Morning Hack #1
Get up one hour earlier. Everyone gets the same 24 hours a day. NO EXCEPTION. So the question becomes “What is it that makes some people use their time more efficiently and get more done than others?” I have studied CEOs, thought leaders, athletes, and minds of the ultra successful such as Richard Branson, Michael Jordan, Elon Musk, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, etc and what I have learned is that they ALL have a morning routine that has been the basis for their success.
Morning Hack #2
Drink 1-2 glasses of water. It’s simple but not easy until you make it a habit. I like to get my first two glasses of water under my belt immediately upon awakening. It feels good, gives me more energy and helps me start the day off on a positive note. Right after I wake up I head straight into the kitchen and use the same style glass to down my H2O before doing anything else.
Morning Hack #3
Write or journal. I have modified this routine over the years. Sometimes I write for just a few minutes and other times it’s much longer but the idea behind writing remains the same. I write to clear my head of the nonsense that seems to clutter my mind right out of the gate before the bulk of my day even begins. Somehow the writing kicks in my creativity and gets my mojo going. I don’t worry about what I write either. Sometimes my writing makes no sense at all and that’s okay. I don’t analysis it I just do it and it seems to help my day really flow.
Morning Hack #4
Walk outside in nature or jump on a rebounder Inside. I can’t say enough about this routine. When I get outside within the first hour of awakening I feel amazing. Going for a walk reminds me there is something much bigger in play in the universe and I’m just a tiny, weeny part of the whole equation. It’s humbling to connect with nature and look up at the big blue sky while the birds are singing at the same time. I’m always in awe of the beauty and magnificence of Mother Nature. On the other hand, if the weather isn’t that good I’m just as happy staying in and jumping on my rebounder. The movement and motion seems to get my juicing flowing. It leaves me feeling vibrantly alive and ready for the day ahead.
Morning Hack #5
Listen to an audio book or recording of some sort. I am addicted to learning, growing and stimulating my mind. Every day I learn something new that enhances my life from a new skillset (like editing video) to personal growth (how to master my emotions in a more and more powerful way). I love the audible app and listen to 15-20 minutes of a book, podcast or YouTube video. I also will trade off and listen to a recording that I create with my goals, visions and intentions on it. Listening to an audio, in my opinion, is the bomb!
My last words of wisdom. Start small, just begin creating morning habits 1% at a time.
I’d love to hear from you. Share a new morning habit, routine or ritual that you are going to implement below.
