If you’ve been in the self-development space for a while, you must have heard a lot about journaling. Especially around New Year, journals and planners are all the rage.
So, you may have been wondering…
Is journaling really worth it? How can it actually help you instead of it being “another” thing on your daily to-do list?
Here’s your answer!
Back in 2008, when I first started journaling, I did it out of curiosity. I wanted to try it out and see its impact in my life. I started by writing my goals (big picture goals as well as detailed breakdown of my steps), and all of a sudden, I was more focused, more committed and everything about that year was 5X grander.
The results literally astonished me.
As I continued the practice, it deepened. I added in quarterly goal setting – then monthly, weekly and finally daily journaling.
Since then, nearly every morning (often in the wee hours of the morning), I pull out my planner and journal to record my thoughts. This daily routine has helped me create more discipline, courage, resilience, and success than ever before.
Want to know what I use my journal for?
Here’s a list of 8 ways how my Journal & Planner helps me:
1) Record my accomplishments both big and small – this helps me track my progress and stay motivated to keep moving forward
2) Dream and commit to bigger, next level goals – this helps me get out of my comfort zone and keep pushing forward
3) Acknowledge the areas of my life I want to improve – because it’s as important to know your blind spots as it is to know your strengths
4) Track progress and capture insights about both my personal & professional life to be aware of even the minute details
5) Get through tough times & process my emotions as journaling is one of the best therapies in the world.
6) Get disciplined and build better habits. Even the act of working on my planner every single day helps me get organized.
7) Gain clarity and ask better questions (an important skill to have as a Coach, Speaker & Conscious Leader)
8) To become a better human being in every area of my life.
Hence, in today’s complicated world that has fallen victim to division, overwhelm, and stress, I simply want to encourage you to reclaim your innate wisdom, strength, and inner GPS with the help of journaling. It will become your North Star to guide you towards what matters most in life.
Here’s the thing!
There are ambitions, gifts, and greatness yet to be expressed inside of you. They may be buried away, but it’s all there. I know because mine were tucked away until I understood how to access them. Since then, I have gone on to reinvent my life and leave a successful career in the pharmaceutical industry into finding my life’s purpose as an Author, International Lecturer and Mentor to entrepreneurs who want to grow their business as a Coach, Consultant or Speaker.
Listen Up! This year is unwritten and I believe you hold the pen to write a new story for your life.
Will this be your year? I believe it can be.
Hope this helps you remember your greatness and encourages you to make some real advancements in your life. You deserve living a rich, abundant and beautiful life.
And if you’re ready to go deeper into the philosophy, methodology and strategies I’ve shared here, I’d love to guide you on the journey.Take the next step here.
