Let’s face it, we don’t know what we don’t know until we know it.
Life is all about change (whether we do it easily or resist it). Change is about growth. As we evolve, the ideas we have about our lives shift.
On a personal note things change as well as everything around us.

Ask anyone over the age of 35 and they will say they have had to reinvent themselves. One moment we are single, the next married, and then, more often than not, single again. One minute we are alone and the next we have a house full of kids, pets, or parents. One week we have a job, the next we are looking for one.

Reinvention is a given. How you fare while you are going through it can either be extremely difficult or you can choose to work through it.

I have found myself lost in a sea of unknowingness, sadness, and disappointment. I think back and remember how difficult the reinvention process was especially when when I could barely make it through a day.

One night, after I woke up again for the 12th night in a row at 1:00am having a panic attack, I realized I couldn’t do it anymore. I had to move forward and find another way to live. I was replaying old stories. I was thinking about my unlucky past and worried about my bleak future.

The very next morning, I made a decision. I hired a life coach and decided to redesign my life and completely rewrite the story of my life. That was 6 years ago. I decided to let go of the darkness and move towards the light and create a brand new existence.

For the first time, I created a vision. I wrote down my goals. I surrounded myself with the people that I aspired to be more like. I reinvented myself.

Here I share the Path of Reinvention- The 7 Ways to create lasting change NOW!

1. Visualize your future.

Spend some time in silence activating your visioning muscle. Let go of the 3 p’s: people, places, and problems that have held you back. Say a quiet goodbye and release all thoughts, emotions, and feelings that
have kept you stuck. See your future the way you want it, see your ideal mate, the perfect job, and good health. Use all of your senses and activate the feeling/emotions that accompany the achievement of each one.

Imagine every detail. Picture it and feel the sensation running through your entire body.

Speak your appreciation out loud. Say goodbye to your past with gratitude for all of the lessons you have learned and then with appreciation thank your beautiful new future for aligning with you now.

2. Write it all out.

Grab a pen and start writing out all of the details exactly the way you want them to be. Craft out your perfect day. What time do you wake up? Where do you work? Who are your friends? What do you spend your days doing?

Continue writing including as much details as possible. Allow the excitement to fill your spirit with joy and happiness. Describe every part of your life. Divide your story into several sections- my ideal mate, my perfect job, my house, my health and wellbeing, etc. Include all of the feelings that you will experience including fulfillment, contentment, and satisfaction. Write in a beautiful journal. Put it on your nightstand and look at it often. Add to it. Review it.

3. Surround yourself with pictures

Cut out pictures and make a vision board. Post photographs of the perfect career on your fridge. Use your screensaver as a reminder of the life you choose to live. Post notes on your visor in your car. Tape a quote on your bathroom mirror. Frame your dream home and put it next to bed and look at it every night before falling asleep.

4. Chart out your Vision – Create a Mind Map

What steps do you need to take to make your dreams a reality? If it is a new job, write out a list of all possible companies you could work for. If you would like to meet the perfect partner, write out a list of their characteristics and where they might hang out. Makes lists. Put them somewhere you can see them. Post them above your desk on a bulletin board. Connect with them.

5. Set an intention everyday to accomplish one thing that takes you closer to accomplishing your goals.

Start each day with your eyes closed while you connect with your vision. Go to a specific date and speak outloud in reverse the successes you have achieved. If you are launching a new business, start with it is Dec 31, 2012 and I have just had the best year of my life. My business is flourishing. My business has grown and I now have 20 new clients. I provide exceptional services to each one of my customers and my reputation in this new field is impeccable.

6. Look in the mirror everyday and say “You are worth it”.

Really gaze into your eyes (your soul) and get up close and personal. See your truth, allow your vulnerability to be seen and give yourself permission to become the person you were meant to be. Self love, respect, and honor is your birthright. Claim it.

7. Finish the day reflecting back on what you did right, what you loved, and how grateful you are for any and all progress you have made.

Celebrate all success no matter how small. It all counts. We are conditioned to focus on what we didn’t do and then we get a yucky feeling that we fell short, failed, or aren’t good enough. We focus on our failures and skip right over our wins. Spend time readjusting your filter so that you see all of the progress that you make each day.

Reinvention is a curvy road that has potholes, hills, and detours. Along the way, we experience obstacles, resistance, and self doubt. Is it going to be easy? No. Is it going to be worth it? YES!

With determination and resilience you can do it.

What do you do when you fall off the tracks? If you start making excuses and sabotaging your success, then
ask yourself three questions:
If today was my last day, did I live my life fully?
What can I do right now to get myself on track?
Who can help me (mentor, coach, friend) move forward?

Now take one baby step forward. Just one. Just keep the energy moving forward and the rest of the story will continue to be written.
