America the Beautiful (1893)- Happy 4th of July~
Written by Katharine Lee Bates
O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain.
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea.
O beautiful for pilgrim feet,
Whose stern impassion’d stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness.
America! America!
God men thine ev’ry flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law.
O beautiful for heroes prov’d
In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved,
And mercy more than life.
America! America!
May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness,
And ev’ry grain divine.
O Beautiful for patriot dream
that sees beyond the years.
Thine alabaster cities gleam,
Undimmed by human tears.
America! America!
God shed his grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood,
From sea to shining sea.
May all of us always remember and celebrate our freedom, independence, and those that dedicate their lives on our behalf.

Wendi,
Best wishes for your Independence Day celebration this 4th of July. The inspirational session you conducted at the Your Big Picture Cafe, last March 16, together with Marty More, still inspires me. Hope all is well with you and that you will drop by the Cafe where I often find the environment conducive to creative writing. A “Hello!” from you will make my day.
With high regards,
Dan … My trust in God brings me peace.
