Seth Godin talks about two kinds of hustle
You can’t help but notice the emphasis on hustling these days. As a recovering work alcoholic that concerns me. I left the pharmaceutical corporate world to get on the prevention side of life, medicine and entrepreneurial success.
Look around at the world of doing more, quicker, with more intensity. Completely exhausting. Health threatening. No thank you.
I like to think of hustle the way Seth Godin talks about the other option; the gentle hustle. This well known author, entrepreneur, describes the hustle in the traditional sense as “always asking, of putting yourself out there, of looking for discounts, shortcuts and pitching to close a sale.
The gentler hustle is about preparation, generosity and looking at down the road at the ultimate goal; success defined over the long haul as good relationships, health and overall wellbeing not just money in the bank.
It’s the long game that will produce a life well lived. Here’s to the gentle hustle. I’m all in.
