Be honest! How many times a day do you see yourself speaking on some of the world’s BEST stages? How many times do you envision yourself transforming millions of lives? How badly do you want to share your message and your story with the world?
I know the answer.
Because I have been in your shoes; a born visionary, a leader in the making, an emerging speaker with the thirst to impact the masses.
And there’s one thing that I realized quite early in my career…CONFIDENCE is the name of the game. The more confident you are, the brighter you shine in the world, and the bigger your impact will be.
When you’re confident, you speak with all your authenticity and power, and the listener can FEEL that in an instant. In the leadership & speaking world, it’s not the words that count, it’s all about the EMOTIONS behind them. You can make people yawn during your talks OR you can make them feel excited, energized and empowered.
Ready to build your confidence muscle to speak on both offline + online stages?
Here are my top 5 tips to get confident on camera and SHINE:
1. PREPARE: The best thing you can do is to prepare your talk! Whether it’s a talk from the stage or an online livestream, have an outline of your talking points. This will help you avoid any last minute hiccups (out of confusion) and stay on track.
2. THE RULE OF ONE: Okay! So it doesn’t matter if there are 5 people or 5000 people in your audience, imagine yourself talking to only ONE person, as if you’re having a one-on-one conversation. This will help you feel relaxed and deliver with grace.
3. FEAR SETTING: This is a game-changer! Scared of your next talk? Feeling all over the place with your emotions and WHAT IF’S? No worries. Set aside some time to visualize all the bad things that could happen to you. Seriously! Because once you know your fears, you will be LESS afraid of them and will know what to do to combat them.
4. THE ALTER EGO EFFECT: A technique that’s been around for many years. In simple words, pick one speaker/leader that you totally resonate with and step into their shoes; the tonality of their voice, the way they stand, the way they move their body, and then imitate their style. This will help you bring out the leader within.
5. USE STORIES: Want to ease into your talks? Inject real-life/personal stories with lessons attached to them. This will help you be a natural on stage and connect with the audience with ease.
