One of the most rewarding yet challenging roles a man will ever have is to being a father. There is no rule book or amount of prep work you can do to get prepared- it is strickly on the job training.
On this Father’s Day, I celebrate all men everywhere, whether they themselves are Dads or just came here via one. My own Dad passed away when I was only 25 but I was so incredibly blessed to have him in my life for all those wonderful years. He gifted me enough good stuff to last my entire lifetime. I was lucky enough to sense how fragile and short life could be so I spent those 25 years loving, honoring, and cherishing him. I love you, Dad!
I also feel so much compassion for those that struggled with their fatherhood role. My grandfather took his life and I never knew him. Although his fate was brought about by his own actions it is always the right thing to do to be compassionate, kind, and loving no matter what (we only get to choice our OWN thoughts, feelings, and actions anyway). I love you, Grandad!
Then there are the people in your life that fill a void or take the role of someone that is not able to. I was fortunate enough to hand pick my Dad’s predecessor- my amazing Uncle Teddy. We can alway find someone that can fill in for someone when they aren’t able to. It can be another family member, a teacher, or friend. I attribute much of who I am today because of my relationship with my Uncle. I love you, Uncle Teddy!
Take today and send love, blessing, and support to our boys, men, and fathers!
Love to All,
Wendi
