Gratitude is a deep appreciation that you feel from the depths of your heart. It guides you. It elevates your mood. It heals you and empowers you.
Gratitude is the quickest way to shift from feeling like a victim to hope and possibility. It’s the one emotion that can instantly bring more of life’s blessings into your life’s experience.
According to researchers at Harvard Medical School, benefits of a gratitude practice include:
• Strengthened resiliency
• Improved health and longevity
• Raised self-confidence
• Better relationships
• Stronger immune system
• More joy, optimism, and happiness
What is gratitude, anyway?
The word “gratitude” comes from the Latin word gratia, meaning grace or graciousness. As noted in the Harvard Mental Health Letter, “Gratitude is a thankful appreciation for what an individual receives, whether tangible or intangible. With gratitude, people acknowledge the goodness in their lives.”
There are many approaches to gratitude practice. In today’s video, I share two simple, yet profound ways to bring this practice into your life.
- Using a Dry-Erase marker, write out 3 things you are grateful for every day onto a mirror in your home or workplace (if appropriate). It is encouraged to write something new every day and to focus on small things as well as bigger ones.
- Write out 3 things you are grateful for in a Gratitude Journal. You can apply this practice first thing in the morning or at bedtime, closing the day on a high note. You can also theme your gratitude for specific areas of life. For example, if you are frustrated with your spouse, write out 3 things you are grateful for about your marriage. The same goes with other areas of your life, such as your job or school.
Gratitude provides a feeling of fulfillment and enriches your daily life whether or not you have added anything new to it.

Wendi,
I am always overwhelmingly inspired and become ever-more mindful whenever I watch your videos and read your emails. In this particular communication, you offer such real-life, simple, actionable ways to incorporate gratitude into a daily routine. I love your Life-size mirror! Great way to use your whole self in engaging in gratitude. One profound statement that really caught me today was when you said, “Life is not happening TO YOU, it’s happening FOR YOU” …. That statement created a great shift for me.
THANK YOU!
