Ever stretch the truth (or swept the truth under the rug, looked the other way, or just plain out lied)?
Integrity is an interesting topic because the meaning varies based on the perception of the person defining it.
Does a white lie count like telling someone you will call them when you know you won’t or giving someone a compliment because you really want to close the deal or make the sale?
What about being silent while someone does something that is morally or ethically wrong like cheating on their taxes (or their wife)?
Integrity is how high you set your own internal bar. Reputations (the conversation about you when you aren’t in the room) are built on this number #1 key to success. All other characteristics fall under the umbrella of integrity.
Integrity is about doing what is right even when it isn’t popular or easy.
Integrity is being consistently kind, honest, respectful, humble, honorable, and fair.
Integrity is about doing what is ethical even when others aren’t watching.
At the end of the day, if you want better relationships, more success in your business, and to live a joy filled life- first focus on having the highest integrity and notice how the magic of the Universe expands to support you.
Great subject to consider! I also think integrity is a component in your relationship to yourself. When you do something you don’t really want to do because you think you should (or society/friends/family say you should), you are not in integrity with yourself. It is a form of dishonesty. And it is not honoring yourself…or others.
