The Power of Patience

Have you noticed what a fast paced world we live in? Of course you have and it is only going to get faster.  Let’s face it these days everyone wants their desires met instantly  and if that doesn’t happen then they get frustrated, disappointed or depressed.

So is there a way to develop patience in an impatient world?  There sure is and once you have decided to become patient and allow things to happen rather then force them  you  will not only feel free but will accomplish more than you ever imagined.

Many times it is for your greatest and highest good that something doesn’t happen but you won’t know why for many years to come. While you are living in the midst of your current situation you have to tap into your faith and trust that all things will work out.

What about all the people who suddenly get that big break, aren’t they just lucky? Often something appears like it happened suddenly and that lady luck was on their side  but the story underneath the story reveals something completely different.

Have you ever read the book “Outliers“?  Malcolm Gladwell talks about 10,000 hours as the magical number of practice hours it takes to make someone an overnight success (ie…The Beatles). You only hear about people after they have made it so it appears that they did it quickly but if you dig deeper you uncover the real story of persistence, passion, and patience.

Even if you could win the lottery or become famous overnight studies confirm that when you don’t have enough time to integrate and process what has taken place then more often than not it can not be sustained. Evidence of athletes, celebrities  and lottery winners ending up penny- less after hitting it big are everywhere. To avoid  the emotional rollercoaster why not slow down and just be patient?

Here are 3 ways to develop patience:

1.) Every morning right after you get out of bed repeat the affirmation “Today I choose to be calm, patient, and balanced.” Today, I choose to be grounded and centered”. “Today I choose to be grateful for the things that I already have in my life and embrace them knowing that all things come in due time”.

2.) Spend 5 minutes (yeap, only five minutes will make a significant difference in your life) using the following “breathing mantra meditation- Inhale, I breathe in and celebrate this moment. Exhale, I breathe out anything that does not serve me. Inhale, I breathe in peace and tranquility. Exhale, I breathe out expectations and attachment to outcomes. Inhale, I breathe in love, light and expansion. Exhale, I breathe out worry, anxiety, and fear. Inhale, I breathe in hope, faith, and possibility. Exhale, I breathe out impurities and old beliefs. Inhale, I am. Exhale, all need to control.

3.) Close your eyes and see the thing that you desire as if it is yours and then release it and let it go knowing with complete certainty that if it is not delivered to you exactly as you planned that a greater more desirable plan is in store for you.

Patience is something that can be developed over time if you put in the time to cultivate it. It is well worth the investment of your time because the bonuses you get come in the form of health, wealth and happiness.

Smiles and Success,
