Ever have one of those “off” days when things are just in a complete and total funk?! How do you find your groove and get back on track? How do you shake off the blues?
First and foremost, know that EVERYONE has these days. Yes, even the happiest people find themselves experiencing a humdrum day where they just can’t shake this feeling. Feelings of doubt, fear, frustration, and loneliness start to creep in and you begin to question yourself. Am I good enough? Am I making the right decisions?
The moment you feel it coming on…It is time to TAKE ACTION. Let’s say you get off the phone with a friend or colleague and you feel “blah” or “upset”. Immediately, stop what you are doing and RE-ADJUST your mindset by saying an affirmation or sitting in silence releasing and letting go of that feeling. Assign the feeling to something you can visualize like a balloon or kite and simply watch as you let it go into the air and float AWAY.
Learning techniques that work when these feelings sneak up on you is critical. Don’t wait until it is raining outside to fix your roof.
Here are “3 Ways to Instantly Get Your Groove Back” (before it rains)
1. Write out a list of 5 things you are GRATEFUL for. Everything boils down to our “thoughts” and when you focus on what you already have then your energy shifts. Gratitude infuses positively charged energy which like a magnet, attracts more into your life to be grateful for.
2. Close your eyes and remember a time when you were INCREDIBLY happy doing something simple like taking a walk on the beach or playing with your puppy. The memory will trigger feel good chemicals to be released into your bloodstream which in turn will create a positive “GROOVY” feeling instantly.
3. Do something KIND for someone else. Pay the toll for the car behind you, buy someone’s coffee at the drive through at Starbucks or go on line and make a contribution to a worthy charitable organization. Random acts of KINDNESS enrich the one who gives as much if not more than the one that is on the receiving end.

I have tried to keep my head above water as I stay a single Mom, here it is 18 yrs later, and I have 2 daughters and 1 just graduated with honors, the other one has 4 yrs left til graduation. I have been married and have had a lot of good experiences and learning experiences too.. but now I feel that I need more to keep me stimulated, I feel I need to seek the world for guidance through society. I have been helping the elderly for 16 yrs. but now the administration is overwhelming the feeling of accomplishment with all their demands that are sometimes impossible to fulfill.. I need to be independent again and not work for someone else besides the community that really needs me. Any suggestions?
